Solent Grange Nursing Home unveils commissioned painting by Isle of Wight Artist

Isle of Wight artist Becky Samuelson was delighted to be commissioned to paint some memorable /classic Isle of Wight views to brighten the walls in Solent Grange Nursing Home in Wootton. Solent Grange, part of The Future Care Group, is home to over 50 residents, most of whom have lived on the island all their lives. The paintings depict views which are a mixture of subjects relating to the Isle of Wight. Hopefully, these paintings will bring back many happy memories for the residents and visitors to the home of places visited, in the years gone by. They include an acrylic painting of a view of the beach at Seaview with children playing and activity on the water; Sea thrift at Freshwater; Gulls off Tennyson Down and a watercolour of Around the Island race.

Arnon Rubenstein MD, a lover of art, said “It is easy when visiting the Island to be inspired, the abundance of natural beauty and wildlife surrounding the home is an absolute joy. I felt it would be lovely for our residents if we could capture some of that IoW magic and have a permanent display in the home creating moments of joy, every day.”

Artist Becky Samuelson said: “It has been a lovely project to work on, particularly the specially commissioned piece of Seaview beach and I really hope the residents, their families and the staff will get as much pleasure in seeing them as I did in painting them.”

Becky has been a full-time artist for over 30 years based from her studio in St Helens specialising in seascape and landscape paintings in all mediums. The Isle of Wight is a special place to live and work and she gets huge pleasure from painting the Island coast and landscape and the wealth of subject matter it provides for her.

Solent Grange doors are always open to visitors who make like to pop in and see the glorious paintings first-hand.
