Eid Celebrations

Southborough Nursing Home staff and their family members were welcomed to a staff party and to celebrate the festival pd Eid. The dining room was decorated with flower garlands, golden tinsel curtains, and a photo booth with a flowery background. Our care team member, Atiqur Rahman, came along with his wife, Aisha, and their lovely baby girl. Aisha kindly spent some time designing henna patterns on the hands of eager guests. The patterns looked beautiful.

Families and staff were welcomed with soft drinks and a variety of food items like samosas, pakoras, vada pav, and everyone’s favourite biryani.
We informed the Kingston Muslim Association of our plans to celebrate Eid at this party. They generously arranged for biryani enough to feed the entire party of fifty, over just one phone call. This showed us the spirit of Eid. Their kindness and generosity were greatly appreciated by all, and the biryani was scrumptious.
Staff members were excited to wear traditional dresses, and the colourful outfits lifted everyone’s spirits! Along with henna, ladies were offered bangles to go with their festive outfits. A dance performance by our manager’s daughter was the high point of the party. Seerat, the five-year old dressed in a lovely saffron gharara, captured hearts with her graceful performance. The music enticed everyone to the dance floor. Eid would not be complete without sweets. There were a variety of desserts like jalebi and Gulab Jamuns, but the delicious Falooda drink specially prepared by our manager Kamal for the staff won hearts and tummies and made it a very Happy Eid indeed!
