While the world’s attention was on Paris for the 2024 Olympic Games, Kings Lodge Nursing Home brought the Olympic spirit to our doorstep. From 26th July to 11th August, residents, staff, and families joined in our own Kings Lodge Olympics, with events adapted from traditional sports. We held activities such as gymnastics, fishing (Hooking the Duck), bowling, shooting (Knock the Tin), golf, sailing (in our garden “boats”), and disc throw (Toss the Ring).
The competitive spirit was vibrant, and the grand finale on 11th August, coinciding with the official Olympic closing ceremony, transformed our garden into a festive Olympic village. Residents were awarded personalised certificates and gold medals for their efforts. The celebration continued with refreshments, sing-alongs, and impromptu dancing, filling the air with joy and cheer.
