Residents of Oaklands House Care Centre were treated to another delightful outing aboard the Myley bus, with the ever-enthusiastic Sarah as our tour guide. This time, we embarked on a scenic adventure to Itchen Valley Country Park, a stunning 440-acre expanse of woodland and water meadows.
Residents Christine, Violet, and Michael were captivated by the towering trees that filled the landscape, including Scots Pine, Corsican Pine, and the majestic Western Red Cedar, alongside a variety of conifers and broad-leaved trees. The natural aromas of the forest filled the air, stimulating our senses as we ventured deeper into the woods.
Among the trees, we watched families enjoying the park’s thrilling tree-top adventure, complete with high ropes and a zip liner, adding a lively atmosphere to the peaceful setting.
After our walk, we made our way to the park’s cosy café, where we enjoyed rich hot chocolate and delicious cakes. The scent of oak furniture and the sight of beautifully woven wicker sculptures, as well as an array of striking paintings, provided the perfect backdrop for our relaxing break.
As the morning came to a close, it was time to board the bus back home. With smiles all around, everyone agreed it had been a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable way to spend the day.
