An Inspiring Day Out at the Horniman Museum for Cedar View Care Centre

Last month, our residents and staff at Cedar View Care Centre enjoyed a truly inspiring day out at the Horniman Museum. It was a day filled with discovery, nostalgia, and plenty of smiles, as our residents explored the museum’s rich and varied collections.

The visit offered something for everyone. Our residents were captivated by the intricate musical instruments from around the world, sparking conversations about different cultures and music styles. The vibrant displays of traditional costumes brought history to life, while the Natural History Gallery and its famous walrus proved to be a particular favourite, drawing both laughter and awe. There was a wonderful balance of excitement and tranquillity as we moved through each exhibit, with residents taking in every detail and sharing their own memories.

Outside, the beautiful Gardens and Aquarium provided a peaceful retreat, where we enjoyed moments of quiet reflection, surrounded by lush greenery and vibrant aquatic life. It was a perfect setting for our residents to relax and take in the natural beauty around them.

A special highlight of the day was for our beloved resident, Poppy. At 101 years old, Poppy has visited the Horniman Museum countless times throughout her life, yet she was delighted to find new exhibitions she hadn’t seen before. Her enthusiasm and sense of wonder were infectious, adding an extra layer of joy to the experience for everyone.

We’re always on the lookout for places that spark curiosity and bring joy to our residents, and the Horniman Museum provided just that. What’s your favourite museum to explore? We’d love to hear your recommendations for future outings and discover more wonderful places together!
