This week at Priory Court Care Home, our residents embraced the beauty of autumn through a fun and engaging art activity that celebrated the season’s vibrant colours and natural wonders.
We began by taking advantage of the crisp autumn sunshine, heading outdoors to admire the stunning display of changing leaves—from deep reds to bright oranges and yellows. As we strolled through the grounds, the sight of squirrels darting across the grass and the fresh smell of cut grass sparked fond memories for many of our residents. One resident fondly recalled making leaf angels with their children during autumn walks in the park.
Later in the week, we brought the outdoors inside, using the leaves we had collected to create beautiful autumn art projects. Our residents crafted foxes, squirrels, and wreaths, all showcasing the warm colours of the season. For a more hands-on experience, we pressed the leaves into clay, allowing residents to feel their textures and capture the essence of autumn. These unique creations are now proudly displayed throughout our home, a testament to the creativity and joy the season brings.
In addition to the artistic fun, the week provided a wonderful opportunity for reminiscence and connection. Residents shared stories of woodland walks and wildlife, drawing on their own memories of autumns past. It has been a fantastic week filled with creativity, conversation, and the simple joys of nature, all while looking forward to the cosy evenings ahead.
At Priory Court, we believe in creating meaningful experiences that bring our residents closer together, and this week’s autumn-themed activities have done just that. We are excited to continue celebrating the beauty of the season with our residents in the weeks to come!
