Celebrating Harvest Festival at Oaklands Care Home

Residents at Oaklands Care Home enjoyed a wonderful day celebrating the annual Harvest Festival with their families, embracing the spirit of the season with joy and gratitude. We were honoured to welcome Brenda from Saint James’s Church, accompanied by her dedicated assistants, Margaret and Peter, to lead the service.

The celebration was filled with heartfelt hymns, prayers, and readings, bringing everyone together in a meaningful way. Brenda beautifully explained the significance of the Harvest Festival, highlighting traditional items such as bread and salt and emphasising the importance of giving back to the community.

This year, the Oaklands family made a special effort to support the local church’s food bank, generously donating tinned and packet foods. We are incredibly grateful for the support of our residents, their families, and staff, as these contributions make a real difference in the lives of those in need.

After the service, some residents chose to receive communion in our cinema room or in a more intimate setting, creating a truly peaceful and reflective atmosphere.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this day so special. Together, we’ve demonstrated the power of community spirit and the joy of giving back. Here’s to continuing to make a positive impact!
