Kings Lodge Residents enjoyed an incredible week celebrating International Beach Day at our care homes! It was a time full of fun, nostalgia, and wonderful memories for our residents, especially those living with dementia, as we embraced a variety of beach-themed activities and exciting days out. 🌞
We began the week with some heartwarming reminiscence sessions, where residents shared stories of past beach holidays. This was followed by creative arts and crafts using seashells and painting sessions that brought back the magic of seaside trips.
The highlight of the week? Two unforgettable trips to the coast! Our residents enjoyed soaking up the sunshine and indulging in delicious ice creams at Bosham Quays, all while taking in the breathtaking views. The excitement continued with a peaceful boat trip in Chichester Harbour, where we watched the sunset and even spotted seals basking in the sun. For many, steering the boat was an adventure that brought smiles and laughter all around.
This week has been filled with joy, relaxation, and cherished moments that remind us how important it is to create opportunities for our residents to relive these treasured experiences. Days like these not only spark happiness but also support cognitive wellbeing and create lasting connections.
