Hold your horses! Time to spill the beans about our recent farm adventure. A little birdie hinted the weather might play tricks on us. The sky poured ‘cats and dogs,’ yet we took charge and brought the farm indoors.
Amidst the ‘donkey work,’ residents geared up as our furry guests arrived. Chickens, ducks, guinea pigs, rabbits, sheep, alpacas, pigs, goats, donkeys, and ponies — a whole menagerie at Steep House Nursing Home!
While it was hard not to get all ‘giddy goat,’ we encouraged each other to embrace the experience. Some petted with delight, others preferred watching, and a few took to it ‘like a duck to water.’
Interacting with animals works wonders. It battles depression, soothes anxiety, banishes loneliness, and even keeps blood pressure in check. More than that, it awakens the soul, as Anatole France said, “until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawaken.”
Massive thanks to Ark Animal Encounters for braving the weather! Straight from the horse’s mouth, our residents had a blast!
