International Dot Day

International Dot Day, a global celebration of creativity, courage and collaboration, began when teacher Terry Shay introduced his classroom to Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot on September 15, 2009. The child in this story dislikes art class because she is convinced, she can’t draw. Her teacher gently encourages her to begin with a single dot and her creativity takes off. The story celebrates the creative spirit in everyone.

Our residents love to be creative and what better way to do it than with dots! From easy dot-to-dot pictures to the more difficult, and creating pictures using different mediums to make dots. Some residents joined in the dot theme with a word game, seeing how many words they could come up with that related to dots, spots, circles and spheres. Our Residents managed an incredible 100 words! Everyone who took part enjoyed the variety of activities.
