John’s Gardening Journey at Oaklands House

At Oaklands House Care Centre, we believe that life is full of opportunities to discover new passions, no matter the stage of life. One of our residents, John, has recently embarked on such a journey, finding joy and fulfillment in the art of gardening.

For most of his life, John never considered himself a gardener. However, since joining our community, he’s found a new love for nurturing plants, particularly runner beans. Starting from planting the seeds to carefully tending to the growing plants, John has poured his time and care into this newfound hobby. The results speak for themselves—lush, healthy plants that are a testament to his dedication.

The true reward came when John handed over his homegrown runner beans to our chef, Dan, who was thrilled to incorporate them into the day’s menu. John’s sense of accomplishment was palpable, and it’s moments like these that highlight the simple yet profound joys that can be found in everyday activities.

At Oaklands House Care Centre, we celebrate these personal achievements and the new passions our residents discover. Well done, John! Your green thumb has brought not only fresh produce but also a wonderful sense of achievement to our community.
