There’s nothing more special than a visit to a pub for lunch, especially with some of our wonderful gents at Oaklands House. Everyone was ready to embark on this exciting adventure.
On arrival at The Shamble Hurst Barn staff were so welcoming and accommodating for our wheelchair users, seating us with ample space.
Once seated, our residents Bill, Don and John were eager to order a drink from the bar, once the drinks were in hand it was time to choose a meal from the delightful menu. Bill enjoyed a Chicken Tikka Masala alongside his larger, Don chose Beef Lasagna with his favourite drink of Guinness, while John indulged in a Beef and Ale pie, which went down a treat with his larger and lime.
Providing the simplest things as a pub lunch enabled our residents to enjoy the change of scenery, makes mealtimes more sociable, it increases the amount of food you eat, which can help with the nutrients you need for better health. But above all it gave them the chance to socialise and make new friends.
What an unforgettable time they had and Oaklands staff were delighted to be a part of this amazing trip. Everyone had a wonderful time, and we look forward to more memorable outings to enrich the lives of our dear residents.
