Armistice Day marks the very day that World War One ended in 1918. At the 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month Oaklands residents paid respect to all those who have died during any conflict in keeping with our Country’s 2 minute silence. This was also repeated on Remembrance Sunday when they watched the Remembrance Service on television.
Residents reminisced about their own, and family members experience of war, and whilst war is never a good thing, some of our residents remembered the united camaraderie that these times bought to their communities.
Residents also joined in with some bright colouring of poppies, a Remembrance Day quiz and seeing how many words they could get from the letters in “Remembrance Day”, they managed to get an amazing 105 words!
