Embracing Autumn’s Beauty at Stowford House

At Stowford House Care Home, we recently celebrated the arrival of autumn with a special creative activity that brought the beauty of the season right into our home! Our residents enjoyed a delightful morning immersed in the vibrant colours and textures of autumn, as they gathered beautiful leaves and engaged in a hands-on experience that stimulated both their visual and tactile senses. This activity served as a lovely reminder of nature’s changing seasons and the joy they bring.

We were inspired by the touching words of Jay Sturner’s poem, particularly the second verse:

“I stand at the window
watch leaves fall across the yard
overcome by a sensation I cannot deny:
My heart is in a dance with autumn’s return.”

These heartfelt lines set the tone for a peaceful and creative morning, where our residents not only created art but also took time to reflect and enjoy a sense of togetherness.

Creative activities like these do more than just spark joy—they play a significant role in maintaining cognition and stimulating memory. They help to support mental wellbeing, boost mood, and keep the mind active, offering invaluable benefits to our residents.

At Stowford House, we cherish these simple yet meaningful moments. They keep our residents connected to the world around them and allow them to create something truly beautiful, while fostering a sense of fulfilment and happiness. We look forward to more opportunities to celebrate the seasons and nurture creativity!
